CONCEPTUAL APPROACH
The design concept for a vocational space located in New Jersey is inspired by the word cultivate. To cultivate is to prepare and use land for crops and gardening, and also to acquire or develop a quality, sentiment, or skill. All of the rooms are connected by a continuous and flowing pathway that represents a river running between fields. Each room represents a field that relies on and is nurtured by the source of water- the pathway that promotes growth. Each room has its own individual function, but they all have one common goal - growth. This space will allow adults on the ASD spectrum to develop roots, grow alongside their peers, and flourish into capable members of the community.
