CONCEPTUAL APPROACH
The concept of this design is inspired by the word beacon. New Orleans has gone through a great deal in the past and it has lost an incredible amount in the process. As the city is still on the path to recovery from events like hurricane Katrina, this restaurant represents a beacon of hope for the future and the direction they are heading. The conceptual approach of the design was inspired by the shape of a trumpet, an instrument rich with power and another representation of fortitude, and one that has strong ties to the history of the city.
Jazz music, vibrant and unique, is a perfect representation of the culture of its birthplace. This restaurant serves to change the idea that New Orleans is a city of the past by showing a way to the future. The concept of going from dark times into the light is shown through use of breathtaking lighting features in the restaurant that serve as a beacon to the city. This restaurant hopes to encompass the essence of the city by pushing the people of New Orleans and the city itself into the future.
